Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

version: konsole 3.5.5-0ubuntu3

The screen shots attached are with anti-aliasing turned off and with it turned on. In both cases the font in DejaVu Sans Mono size 7. It appears that the subpixel hinting is causing the font color to be messed up, however turning off sub-pixel hinting and/or turning on the exclude range from 6.0-8.0 doesn't solve the problem after relaunching konsole. The only way to solve the problem is to turn of anti-aliasing entirely.

Thank you for filing this bug.
Do you still have this problem on Kubuntu Hardy with KDE 3.5.9 or KDE 4?
Do other size 6.0 - 8.0 fonts behave correctly with the exclude setting?

I have hardy with 3.5.9 installed. The exclude setting now appears to be working properly. With any small font size (< 16pt) I still see the color aberrations if subpixel hinting is enabled, but the exclude settings are able to exclude these sizes. The problem is not limited to the DejaVu font.
