From the Attached Crash Report:
Distro Release: Ubuntu 6.10
System Arch: i686
Package (version): firefox (2.0.0.3+0dfsg-0ubuntu0.6.10)

Original Description:

Firefox crashes while typing in text area

In the past few days, I've been having trouble with Firefox crashing when I was typing in the editor in a Simple Machines forum. It doesn't happen every time, but happens maybe 1 in 4 times or so.

The useragent string from the help window is as follows:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.3) Gecko/20060601 Firefox/2.0.0.3 (Ubuntu-edgy)

Thank you for the bug report. Could you please try to obtain a backtrace by following the instructions on [WWW] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs, or upload the crash report from /var/crash/.

Also, please answer these questions:
Is this crash reproducible? If so, which are the steps that lead to it?
Which flash package do you have installed?
Which Java package do you have installed?
Which firefox extensions do you have installed?

This will greatly aid us in tracking down your problem.

AFouse, your report is a dup of bug 93517 .
Please, in case you find a way to reproduce this crash always indicate it, as is very important for us to have a test case, either by submitting it in this thread or in the master report.

Thank you in advance

Thank you for the information you've provided so far. I'm trying to reproduce the crash, but haven't been able to so far. It seems to happen randomly. I'll let you know if I figure out how to reproduce it at will.

I've discovered a way to reproduce the crash. Here are the steps I take:

- login to forum
- enter a specific board
- open an existing thread, not the one at the top
- click on "previous" to see the previous thread
- click on "reply" to reply to thread
- hit the tab key

At this point, Firefox always crashes.

Once again, this is a Simple Machines forum. I'm only computer literate enough to be dangerous, so if you need more technical info I'll be able to send it once my wonderful computer geek husband gets home. :)

I should add that I've been opening a new Firefox instance to reproduce the crash. If I restore my session instead it doesn't necessarily crash again.

I don't have any extensions installed.

I have Shockwave Flash 9.0 r31 and Java Plug-in 1.5.0_08, if that helps.
