Bug Description

I am an unofficial translator and therefore I am only allowed to make suggestions. However, I can not make suggestions to strings that have more than one line.

I am an unofficial translator and therefore I am only allowed to make suggestions. However, I can not make suggestions to strings that have more than one line. If I write something into these textareas and hit the Save & Continue-Button, nothing happens.
But I am able to make suggestions concerning strings with only one line.

I've tried it when making suggestions concerning quickguide (ubuntu-docs). I tried to translate another package as well to see if it is a problem with the quickguide-package, but it did not work when trying to suggest something concerning ssed, as well.

Hopefully it is not my fault, but I simply have no idea what I could have done wrong.

I have the same problem, being an inofficial translator. I realized this when I had to suggest translations to the same string over and over again, and it never got registered.

This bug depends on the implementation of:

https://wiki.launchpad.canonical.com/TranslationReview

and

https://wiki.launchpad.canonical.com/PoMsgSetPage

They are on the top of my queue after language packs so I should start with them this week (perhaps tomorrow).

This is an interesting bug, because the reporter's perception isn't actually correct :-) The translations are actually being stored and can be used; however, there is a display issue. If 5 people suggest translations to multi-line fields with 5 lines, then it's a lot of long textboxes to display, disrupting the flow of the form.

The proper solution to this is to have a page for displaying all translations for a single message. However, Mark recommended an interim fix which would display in the main translation form only the /last/ suggestion posted, and say "N additional suggestions posted". We're going ahead with this tomorrow to allow people to enjoy submitting translations in the short term, rather than waiting for the message view to be implemented.

Can people confirm that the workaround we implemented is working for them?
