Maildir Support

Bug Description

VM uses mboxes, i.e. a single file for storing all messages of a folder.

With attachments folders can grow quickly and slows down VM as it always reads the whole folder into a Emacs buffer.

With maildir only the the index/summary needs to fit into a Emacs buffer.

I manually split up my vm-primary-inbox and use vm-virtual-folder-alist, but true maildir support would be much appreciated. I realize that this would likely be quite a bit of work.

I think 'gnus' supports maildir. I wonder if any of that could be leveraged to add support in vm?

Hi John, Good to know that you are interested. The plan right now is
to finish implementing the headers-only mode for IMAP first. I will
then look at maildir.

Cheers,
Uday
