double tap does not work in nautilus

Bug Description
I am not sure how this is supposed to work with touchscreens but the intuitive double tap does is not detected as on trackpads being equivalent to left mouse click.
So navigating the folder hierarchy in nautilus is not possible without the on-screen keyboard at the moment.

Turns out it only does not work in nautilus.
It works both in the System Settings->Mouse doubleclick timeout test (smiley figure) and in Thunar.
