Bug Description

I've been trying to use the proposed package: 16.0.1+build1-0ubuntu2 (quantal 64bit)
but it freezes very often: sometimes right after startup, but I think it is related to making external connections.
After disabling the sync on startup for my accounts I used to get further, but now even that doesn't help any more.
After downgrading to 16.0.1+build1-0ubuntu1 I seem to be able to open it again and receive and read my mail.
Accepting an invite still crashes completely.
(BTW. the whole precise cycle I had to downgrade my thunderbird to the original release package in order for imap to work)

I realize I don't have much info to help, but I thought at lease you will appreciate some feedback on the proposed package being unusable. If I should have sent this feedback to another forum please let me know.

I can't see why the changes in the version in proposed would cause an issue like this. Are you sure that this definitely only happens with the version in proposed? And if it's hanging or crashing, then you need to provide a stacktrace (see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MozillaTeam/Bugs). If it's crashing, you should also provide a crash ID.

You haven't included any details about other addons you have installed, or any preferences you have modified. In future, please use Apport to report bugs so that this information is automatically included.

In fact, comment #2 even says the same thing happens with the version in quantal release.

Please don't use the regression-proposed tag unless you've confirmed that the problem is *introduced* with the package in the proposed pocket. Doing this blocks the whole verification process and delays getting the fix out to users (and users are already unhappy that the the messaging indicator is completely non-functional without the package in proposed)

I honestly believed the behaviour got much worse in the proposed package.
Since thunderbird kept on freezing right after initiating any online activity (sync imap or rss) and going online, I was forced to try out evilution again. It seemed to work great until I discovered after a week that it was not sending out any email :(
I decided to give thunderbird-next a try and it works great so far i.e no freezes and I'm able to send/receive mail and read rss:
17.0~b2+build1-0ubuntu0.12.10.1~mtn1

summary: - proposed package freezes 16.0.1+build1-0ubuntu2
+ thunderbird 16.0.1x freezes on network io

17.0~b3+build1-0ubuntu0.12.10.1~mtn2 seems to have broken it again :(
I'll try to debug some more if I get time.

Reverted back to 17.0~b3+build1-0ubuntu0.12.10.1~mtn1 but this was broken too now.
Then I ran it with -safe-mode which worked fine, so I disabled all the plugins.
16.0.2+build1-0ubuntu0.12.10.1 worked fine now too and I subsequently enabled all my extensions again and added the global menu plugin and it still seems fine.
I'll close this now as the root of the problem seems extensions related.
Sorry for the noise.
