quick appearing windows get stuck

Hi I hope that you can help me. I have had a problem with Linux Mint 13 Cinnamon 64 bit from day 1. The problem is when a window popups and dissappears quickly, for example if you delete a file, or I have found it happens every time in Inkscape if you apply a filter effect, for example Filters > Bevel > Button, a window quickly appears and then disappears, or is supposed to disappear and gets stuck as a blank grey window on the screen until you close the application that opened that window.

This happens not only with Inkscape, but anything mimics the same thing. If it quickly opens and closes a window, it gets stuck.
Please see example attached. I am sure I cannot be the only one having this problem.

This is a real annoying bug.
