Bug Description

Have had this problem for a year or so now, so it affected versions 11.10, 12.04, 12.10. I've installed s2disk, which at least lets the computer complete the hibernation, but the system hangs during the 'resuming from disk' splash screen.

Laptop is a Sony Vaio Z2 (VPC-Z21C5E) . It features an SSD with some kind of weird RAID setup:

$ mount
/dev/mapper/isw_dgibfidibf_Volume0p1 on / type ext4 (rw,errors=remount-ro)
[...]
/dev/mapper/isw_dgibfidibf_Volume0p6 on /media/SHARED type fuseblk

$ tree /dev/disk/by-id/

When it tries to resume, it tries to do so from Volume0p5, which is set as swap, its size is 9.3GB (I have 8GB ram)

How I can help debug further?

I have the same issue since upgrading to 12.10. Hibernating using s2disk used
to work fine most of the time in 10.04, but know it's totally broken. s2ram
works without problems, though.

2 years on lol! Christopher, I'm afraid the laptop in question has died, so I can't run that command just now. I'll tell you what though, it only just died, and I'm expecting my replacement laptop in a couple of weeks, so I'll try and get hibernate working on *that* and I'll provide updates here if it doesn't work...

Harry P, if your replacement laptop isn't exactly the same model and parts under the hood, and you have a problem with it, you would need to file a new report (not comment in this one). Hence, this bug report is being closed due to your last comment https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1069132/comments/10 regarding you no longer have the originally reported against hardware. For future reference you can manage the status of your own bugs by clicking on the current status in the yellow line and then choosing a new status in the revealed drop down box. You can learn more about bug statuses at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Status. Thank you again for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please submit any future bugs you may find.
