Bug Description

Binary package hint: nvidia-glx

I have a hp p1230 monitor attached to an NVidia Quadro4. The system is running the latest build of fiesty. I have installed the restricted drivers for the NVidia card. 3d rendering works like a charm (tested with blender). However, the monitor is capable of 2048x1536 resolution, and ubuntu will only let me select up to 1024 by 768. Dapper Drake correctly detected and enabled the 2048x1536 pixel resolution.

By adding a mode to the "modes" section of the xorg.conf file, I am able to force high resolution. However, this is a regression as Dapper Drake detected and used the higher resolution automatically.

Thanks for your bug report.

Edward:
Could you add the output of
dpkg -l nvidia-glx\* | grep ii
to this bug report?

This sounds a lot like 49827. Your monitor refresh rates probably got mis-detected. Check your HorizSync and VertRefresh rates in /etc/X11/xorg.conf to see if they match the rates as documented for your monitor. Also see bug 3731 for discussion.

with X forced to 2048 by 1536, my monitor reports 119.2 Khz horizontal and 74.3 hz vertical. X, however, is configured for 28-51 horiz and 43-60 vert
