Bug Description

I have two identities set up in Chromium to manage my work and personal gmail accounts separately. (You can do this by going to settings at chrome://chrome/settings/ and setting up multiple users with separate google accounts. A great feature of Chrome and Chromium, if you are not familiar with it.) I usually keep two separate Chromium windows open--one with my personal username and the other with my work username. The Gmail webapp generally works well, but I see these issues:

1. When I switch between browser windows with the two different identities, the indicator in the messaging menu switches between the two. So while I am viewing the personal email, I don't see notifications here for the work gmail account, and vice versa.

2. When the notification first comes up, I see alerts for all of my folders (e.g. Bulk, Forums, Notifications). I can clear those by clicking on them, but they come back every time I switch between identities. That (along with the fact that I have no way to turn off notifications for particular folders) means I almost always have a blue envelope instead of just when new mail comes into my inbox.

3. The icon in the left-side unity panel shows an unread count. In addition to the fact that it is all unread messages (I can't tell it to only count or ignore certain folders) it keeps flashing back and forth between the two accounts.

I would prefer if either:

1. I could have multiple instances of the webapp, one for each of the identities. I would be fine with two instances on the leftside panel, though they would be tough to distinguish. But having two separate entries in the messaging dropdown that were persistent whenever one of the windows was open would be great.

2. Allow me to choose which identity the webapp is tied to. The messaging icon and the left panel icon would only go to my work identity for example, even if my personal identity is the top window showing.

And, for the record, I tried setting up only the firefox version (the chromium version was not installed yet). I was able to tie firefox to only my work identity, but clicking in the messaging dropdown would bring up gmail in chromium instead of firefox (chromium is my default browser).
