I can confirm this one. This has been present ever since I've used luna daily builds.

Thanks for reporting this. I've marked it as low priority since it's not a deal-breaker, but should definitely still be fixed. I've also assigned it to the beta2 milestone so it should fixed before our second beta release.

Temporary work around :

1) Install Ubuntu tweak
2) It won't be available in slingshot for some weird reason so open it from terminal using "ubuntu-tweak"
3) Go to sound settings in Ubuntu tweak app
4) Disable event sounds
5) Profit.

Was about to file this bug.

Have to force myself to navigate Files with the mouse as keyboard navigation right now is a road paved with BONK!s. Really does your head in.

You can work around it by setting org.gnome.desktop.sound event-sounds property to false via dconf editor.

It does work for me as expected. Is this bug report still valid?

This bug is still valid for me. When sound is disabled I still get alerts in pantheon files and terminal.

I've marked files and terminal as affected, but I'm marking this bug as fixed for elementary OS itself. If someone is still having a problem with this setting in Switchboard (not with apps respecting this setting) please reconfirm.

Is this really something every app should deal with? I am asking this out of curiosity: do apps send notification sounds directly to the sound system (Alsa/Pulse), or do they tell the OS to make a notification=
