Exporting as PNG will set the current file state to modified

In current trunk (r11803):

After a PNG export, the current document is set modified (a star * appears next the filename) and the save command is enabled.
Inkscape will ask to save changes on close.

An export must not change the file state (as nothing was changed)

This is not a recent: inkscape has always stored the export hints in the SVG file (unless batch export mode is used).

I do not agree on this assertion, I just tried Inkscape 0.48.3.1 r9886 and it's not the case, the document stay unedited.

Yes, the '*' to indicate that the document was changed is a recent enhancement in current trunk, based on this feature request:
Bug #294354 ”Unsaved files should have an asterisk (*) in the titlebar“

Note: there is a regression in current trunk with regard to having the file status changed to 'Modified' unexpectedly:
'File > Document Properties' dirties the document (without adding an entry in the 'Undo' history. But this is not related to bitmap export.
