Bug Description

When I try to back up from the CLI, I get the following error.

Fontconfig warning: "/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf", line 9: reading configurations from ~/.fonts.conf is deprecated.

It's probably nothing major, but it messes with my usage, since I run backintime with udev when plugging in my hard drive, and monitor stderr for any issues.

this is just a warning to get people to migrate to XDG configuration layout, it is no bug in backintime.

to get rid of the warning move ~/.fonts.conf to ~/.config/fontconfig/fonts.conf
or if $XDG_CONFIG_HOME/fontconfig if the variable is set.

I am getting the same message, but I don't have a "~/.fonts.conf" directory. I just created "~/.fonts".

@Michael: .fonts.conf is not a directory, but a file.

It is major in this sense: it affects how Wine 1.5 renders fonts. Wine 1.5 requires the .fonts.conf file to be in the correct location in order to render screen fonts correctly in applications running under Wine.

To the last few posters, this is an invalid bug that I incorrectly filed to backintime. It's probably better for you to post at bug 1068549, as per the early comments in this thread.

SO... This is a bug in some update script.

This error message causes the Ubuntu Customization Kit to FREAK OUT.

The update script from 11.10 to 12.04 or what not or 12.10...

Should have moved the font config file, or done something about it so my system would work.
