low resolution using dvi output

Bug Description
Hardware setup:
-Panda ES rev B1
-dvi output on the panda board (the one close to the edge)
-hdmi->dvi cable converter
-dvi input on a BenQ FP202W lcd

the two dmesg attached show two runs: in the first case the board was directly connect to the lcd, in the second case the signal was run through a dvi->vga converter.
In both cases i got a 640x480 desktop, and the only difference was that with the converter in between, the image was shifted on the left.
