Secret Maryo chronicles crashes always on startup

Error:
Info : OpenGL Version 1,3 is below the optimal version 1.4 and higher
there is no soundcard
Initialization: Exception raised: boost::filesystem::directory_iterator::construct: File o directory non esistente: "/usr/share/games/smc/campaign"

I had the same issue (momentary black window, nothing else) when trying to run Secret Maryo Chronicles after installing in Maya 13 Mate on an i5 and an i7 machine. Try running 'smc' from a teminal window. Note any error messages for clues.

In my case on both machines the important error was: 'Initialization: Exception raised: boost::filesystem::directory_iterator::construct: No such file or directory: "/usr/share/games/smc/campaign"'

I did a 'sudo mkdir -p /usr/share/games/smc/campaign' and now smc works for me on both machines.
