While the suggested patch prevents the comment which causes the error, I'd like to point out that the error message *reports the wrong path to the file*. So it's not quite as trivial as that.

Hi,

This is the same issue on i386 arch.

Also, according to the other php modules existing on Ubuntu (in my case the one installed among ming : curl, gd, mcrypt, mysqli...), the comments are not " /* ... */ " but only "; ..."

A simple patch is provided.
