QGIS crashes when loading .dbf files to vector layers

after loading vector layers into QGIS, I then tried to add a .dbf file under the "add vector layer" icon and while attempting to load the program crashed.

the same thing happened to me. crashed while trying to add .dbf as a vector layer.
