Bug Description
Sending a " +1" from my Android 4.1.1 phone, via Gmail, does not work; it appears that Gmail trims the leading space.
It would be useful to have an alternative token to denote the start of a command. An exclamation mark seems like a reasonable choice to me, or even #!, but it's worth scanning existing bug and review comments to see what's the least likely punctuation character to start a line, and then testing it with various devices.
