Changing to NVIDIA experimental driver hangs during applying changes

I chose the NVIDA experimental driver in the new "Additional drivers" tab, but the applying of changes never finishes.

Can you please run "software-properties-gtk" in a terminal, do the steps which lead to this, and see whether you get any screen output once the hang starts? I'm assigning this to s-p for now, as the window shouldn't gray out and block during package installation.

I think it might be a permissions issue. It works when I run "sudo software-properties-gtk".
