Bug Description

Binary package hint: k9copy

I was making a few backups of dvds and on the 5th or so, it started crashing and saying "The application k9copy crashed and caused Signal 11 (SIGSEGV)". The backtrace shows:

ice@feisty-box: uname -a
Linux feisty-box 2.6.20-16-generic #2 SMP Fri Feb 1 02:59:08 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Is it possibliy an issue with the following update?
linux-headers-2.6.20-16 (2.6.20-16.33) to 2.6.20-16.34
linux-headers-2.6.20-16-generic (2.6.20-16.33) to 2.6.20-16.34
linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic (2.6.20-16.33) to 2.6.20-16.34

everything works fine on an second feisty-box where this update is not done!?!

UPDATE:

This Bug has nothing to do with the updates...
I updated the second feisty-box with this updates and everything with K9copy runs well:
linux-headers-2.6.20-16 (2.6.20-16.33) to 2.6.20-16.34
linux-headers-2.6.20-16-generic (2.6.20-16.33) to 2.6.20-16.34
linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic (2.6.20-16.33) to 2.6.20-16.34

My first feisty-box gives 'the new' Splash-Screen with the allready reported message: "The application k9copy crashed and caused Signal 11 (SIGSEGV)".

What could be the reason.

I am running into the same problem here, however this only happens with one particular disk (out of the 10 or so that I have tried).

When running k9copy from a terminal I get the messages:

First video packet in sequence starting at 4110 misses PTS or DTS, flags=1
First video packet in sequence starting at 2062 misses PTS or DTS, flags=1

and then k9copy crashes (sometimes causing the signal 11 SIGSEGV and some other times causing the signal 6 SIGABRT).

I am a attaching a backtrace for signal 11 and I will try to obtain a backtrace for signal 6 as well.

Some other info:
odracir@hardy-heron-laptop:~/DVD$ uname -a
Linux hardy-heron-laptop 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Aug 20 17:53:40 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I also run Ubuntu Feisty Fawn on the same machine and I can reproduce the same error (Signal 11).

Update to the previous post:

I have been able to reproduce both signals now. This is how it goes:

1.- Open k9copy and fire up the settings. Change the size from 4400M to 8000M (as I do not want to shrink the DVD). Press OK. Load the DVD. Press Copy DVD.

The result is the messages (in a terminal)
First video packet in sequence starting at 4110 misses PTS or DTS, flags=1
First video packet in sequence starting at 2062 misses PTS or DTS, flags=1

and k9copy crashes after 2-4 minutes when processing about 4% of the second track (this time causes signal 11 SIGSEGV) (See the backtrace in previous post)

Now, if I do

2.- Open k9copy. Load the DVD. Press Copy DVD (the size has already been set to 8000M).

The application completes the processing of track 2 (the main one) but still sends the two messages about the video packets to the terminal and crashes (this time causing the SIGABRT 6 signal) when updating the VOB files (about 17 minutes later). I can play the resulting dvd folder structure using vlc but it seems that there is some problems with the audio though. I have not checked whether or not I can play the extras in the DVD.

I am attaching the backtrace for this signal and below you can find the output I can see in the terminal when k9copy crashes

This is what I see:

First video packet in sequence starting at 4110 misses PTS or DTS, flags=1
First video packet in sequence starting at 2062 misses PTS or DTS, flags=1
