Bug Description

Newest kmail release (4:3.5.6-0ubuntu6) has a bug in code storing account passwords in kmail's configuration file. The password is saved, though with an error, causing kmail to fail to log in when re-run. Don't know if it's a significant information, but the password which failed contained space characters.

Tried saving kmail's passwords with kwallet enabled and that worked correctly.

Using Kubuntu Feisty / x86

Same here with feisty / amd64, with two different mail accounts. My passwords don't contain spaces.

Also happens on my Notebook (feisty/i386). I tried to untick the "save password" box, close KMail, reopen it, and reenable the "save password" feature, but the bug persists.

Ciao

Confirming due to responses.

Are you all still experiencing this? Have you tried 3.5.7 via kubuntu.org (http://kubuntu.org/announcements/kde-357.php)? I don't have this problem it seems. Thanks.

I temporarily moved to using the kde wallet (then, the bug does not occur), I'll uninstall it and try it tomorrow.

I purged kwalletmanager and rebooted, but the bug does not return. I am still using kmail 4:3.5.6-0ubuntu6. Maybe the temporary switch to kwalletmanager somehow repaired kmail's password store.

Ciao

I just noted that you said your password contained whitespaces that caused the breakage. No wonder I couldn't reproduce this or never saw this before. Sounds like they could be reading in chars and not a getline for strings.
