installing samba server in ubuntu 12.04(.1) it's impossible, dpkg says it fails to cnfigure every time the apt daemon is invoked

It isn't clear to me yet if this is a local configuration problem on your system or if this is a bug in Ubuntu.

Please can you try "sudo apt-get -f install" and see if this fixes your problem? If not, please post the output of the following two commands:

dpkg-query -W update-inetd

stat /usr/sbin/update-inetd

Once you have responded, please change the status of this bug back to New.

I can't verify it anymore since i upgraded from 12.04 to 12.10, marked as invalid
