Is the problem in PySide? If so, I could probably fix it there. I'm also seeing that the application name is not set in the global menu if the program is launched from the command line; it is set if the app is installed and launched from the unity launcher. When the application name is not set in the global menu, the global menu displays the title of the first window created.
