It also appears to be having a strange effect on Firefox. I can't submit a bug report or open a link from Thunderbird while Firefox is running, and every time I restart Firefox it 'loses' my cookies on sites, including this one.

I haven't changed any cookie settings, and I can see that they're all there.

I launched Chrome and do not have any of the cookie loss problem as does Firefox. Thunderbird and Firefox are joined at the hip in many ways.

When I open Thunderbird without the sudo command, the following is displayed when downloading mail. My user account has full administration rights. There is more than 160 GB of disk space available. My keyrings are unlocked right after booting up.

'Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox.'

I have the same problem with all the pygtk apps that I created. When started in terminal, they all diplay this at the bottom:

GtkWarning: IA__gdk_error_trap_pop: assertion `gdk_error_traps != NULL' failed

They seem to be working ok otherwise but not fully tested yet.
