space between date and time replaced with extra characters

the latest update broke the date/time view on the indicator, see the attached screenshot.

This is coming from the patch <http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indicator-applet-developers/indicator-datetime/trunk.12.10/revision/179> that was added for bug #749847

So the question is, why is this en space <https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-datetime/+bug/749847/comments/9> being shown as an en space on other systems but not on Timo's? Is there a locale issue here?

an additional update fixed it, most likely libgtk-3-0..
