I have tried with three different cards, 16MB, 256MB and 512MB. I get the same problem with the 256 and the 512MB cards but with the 16MB, I only get this:

Apr 10 23:17:12 localhost kernel: [ 860.236000] tifm_7xx1: sd card detected in socket 1
Apr 10 23:17:12 localhost kernel: [ 860.376000] mmcblk0: mmc1:d651 S016B 14560KiB
Apr 10 23:17:12 localhost kernel: [ 860.376000] mmcblk0: p1

(no errors)

No errors, but the card will not mount, and have no mmcblk device.

You do not need to confirm anymore! We know it's broken. It's a dup of 53923. There's a script at http://ubuntulinuxtipstricks.blogspot.com/2007/04/texas-instruments-sdmmc-card-reader.html to install the proper drivers. We expect an update soon with the updated drivers anyway though.
