Bug Description

Upon upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10, GNOME can no longer utilize the lock screen. When locking, an image of my desktop background and the current time appears, but when attempting to unlock, I'm not prompted for a password (as I should be, and as it is set to do). Instead, I get a notification that GNOME couldn't connect to the GDM, so locking was disabled.

Have you set GDM as default or LightDM? Have you rebooted?

LightDM is the default (as it was when I installed 12.04) and I have in
fact rebooted.

Ok, LightDM didn't work with the new lock screen in GNOME Shell, but that bug has been fixed in today's gnome-shell upload. I'm going to mark this a duplicate of that bug.
