Bug Description
I have an external monitor plugged into the laptop and want to use both screens - but the laptop screen flashes different colours and the width scaling seems wrong.
I have tried the more recent upstream kernel, but exactly the same problem happened on the default precise kernel.

Yup, does look like we've accidentally left pixel doubling enabled. Can you please double check with either a recent upstream kernel or with raring?
