This was working on 09/17/2012 without an issue. Did an update and now it crashes (09/18/2012). Rebooted and did another update. Installed all updates and it still crashes. Relative to only Software Center. HAve not found issues with any other programs.

apter i upgrade my system, i open Ubuntu software center and then it crash (sorry im using Globish)

Basically, it keeps crashing on startup every time. This is a massive bug for those who are too inexperienced to install via synaptic or the command line.

Update: With Ubuntu Software Center 5.3.14.1 in Quantal (at least with me on amd64), it appears there is no longer a startup crash. This update popped in shortly after I updated my system literally about 5 minutes after commenting on this bug. Guys, please update your systems now and see if the bug is still there. It should be gone. If so, we can mark this bug as fixed.

I marked it as fix released with the new update, but if you guys still get this error after dsit-upgrading, please change it back to confirmed.
