Bug Description

Sometimes, I try to undo some recently added letters with Ctrl+Z, but some other part of the text is removed. This problems occurs randomly.

Hi Martin,

thanks for the bug report. I will report it to the original author of the quickly-texteditor plugin, and see if he has some solution.

In the meantime it would of course be cool if you have any reproducing case in which that happens?

Also, does this occur *after* switching to and from focus mode?

Thanks,
Wolf

Good point. It seems to happen only in Focus mode, mostly when I combine typing new chars, inserting text from clipboard and undoing these changes. Typical result of such a distortion is that a few chars of following text get lost.

Hi Martin,

just to keep you posted: I found another Redo/Undo Library that I'll try out in one of the next releases. I hope that one will work better. It's a python port of the Gedit Undo Mechanism, and it has some cool features (like merging undo stuff into one »undo«)

Anyway, thanks for the bug report :)

Does that fix also prevent undo from deleting all sorts of text? I almost lost more than a paragraph of text by using undo :( Fortunately, I hadn't saved in the meantime so I could retrieve the content.

Maybe offering to save backups like gedit does would help prevent such near-catastrophies? That is really critical.

I noticed that undoing a SECOND time (so typing Control-Z twice) makes the text reappear. It is not optimal, but it's good to know while this bug is being squashed.
