vlc freezes after pressing on hotkeys tab (under preferences)

Bug Description

As the title says vlc freezes after pressing on hotkeys tab (which is under preferences). With freezing I mean I was unable to click on anything and after a while I got black screen. If I press ctrl+alt+delete I am able to log out and log in again.

GreatDanton, try this:

LIBOVERLAY_SCROLLBAR=0 vlc

VLC should run properly then. This bug is a dupe of #1005677

Nicholas Skaggs. Thanks that solved the problem, but I have to start vlc from terminal then.
