Bug Description

After some update on Precise (?july / august) our printer stopped printing normally and stopped priniting before the page was fully printed. Now, one has to pull the paper from the printer because it does not go out normally. The printer starts blinking and needs to be switched off and back on to continue printing something else.
Last few rows (of text) are not printed - it is not dependent on the document size: when I remove last few rows - it still quits sooner than necessary. The test page also didn't print well - attaching the log.
Tried to change some of the parameters (bottom margin, shift output) but with no luck.
Again - the printer used to work fine - until some *** update came in.

The printer is connected via Prolific USB2Parallel reduction - the same device as in bug 936629 (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/936629)

Can you please tell which printer model you are using, attach the PPD file for the printer (in /etc/cups/ppd/), and also follow the instructions in "CUPS error_log" and "Capturing print job data" of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems. Please attach the files one by one, do not compress or package them.

bad printout - see the bottom of the page. If the page is only 2/3 full, it still gets cut.

...and regarding the "Capturing print job data" section: the file and the printout (the pdf file sent to printer) are both O.K. - but the real printout is not.

Can you attach a complete error_log file of a failing job? Thanks.

There is a "complete error_log file" in the last three hundred rows - since I printed something after 18:00.
But if it will help...
The main problem is that a functioning printer suddenly stopped working.

Hello, is any other input needed? The problem still pertains.
Thanks for your attention.

Weird: printing seems to work fine (page is printed fully, paper goes out) when printing from Cinnamon instead of Xfce desktop. Could it be some conflict between these two environments..? Cinnamon is O.K., Xfce has problems.

...and one week later, the printer fails to print even from Cinnamon. Great.

I have the same issue with an HP Deskjet 720C. For things like office documents, I resorted to add an extra page at the end with some dummy text, so that up to the penultimate page, the printing will go fine.
