Bug Description

I installed 3.0 beta 1 on a windows 7 computer here at home via the .msi installer. When starting a topo lessons, it doesn't show the topography map. It does load and show the places file though (you can let it enter 'amsterdam' and 'london', and they'll appear, there's just no background.)

Same in the teach tab. Both for OpenGL and normal view. Makes topo unusable on that pc.

Ok, the bug seems to be that the generated executable can't load .gif files, when I replace it with a .png file (and update africa.py), it just works. We can change all images to .png, but it might be worth investigating why Qt doesn't have the possibility to open gif's while the feature was developed on a windows system with that possibility. Maybe PyDist misses some dll?

If those DLL's aren't present, it's worth adding them:

If that doesn't work, the 'quick fix' of converting to png should work :).
