Bug Description

Binary package hint: mozilla-thunderbird

i am using gmane nntp server. and I get a crash every time I want to see the mails. Apport doesn't catch it even though it's a SEGV.

wattazoum@Ouattazoum:~$ mozilla-thunderbird
GTK Accessibility Module initialized
DOUBLE-CLICK: 400 --> -1 THRESHOLD: 8 --> -1
(Gecko:10436): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: gsignal.c:1019: unable to lookup signal "activate" of unloaded type `MaiAtkObject'

(Gecko:10436): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_signal_emit_valist: assertion `signal_id > 0' failed
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I can reproduce it as I want on my computer. Do you have a way to make apport catch it so that I will give you more infos ?

Thank you Ouattara for this complete report.

About apport, it is working in your system, since it generated the report that you have attached. Maybe what your system lacks is the GTK frontend for apport (package apport-gtk) .

Notice, as per apport-retrace's error log, that you have installed some third party addons (maybe is worth to try to disable them and see if the crash reproduces):

I noticed that the bug is happening only on the gmane.linux.ubuntu.user news group . I tried with another account, I have no bug .

Concerning The screenshot I sent (on Thunderbird turning crazy), It's possible to reproduce it by :
 * Installing mozilla-thunderbird-enigmail
 * changing a setting
 * Uninstalling it .
