Unfortunately, this bug report also shows that the dpkg output was not written due to a problem with /dev/pts. Without log information, this is impossible to debug. If this problem recurs, please feel free to file a new report.

Brian, does apport need to do something better here, to avoid leading users to report non-actionable bugs about package upgrade failures?
