Bug Description

I use my Mobile LG GT540 and Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit to connect in 3G mode. But it works randomly.
Really often I can't find the voice "Enable Mobile Broadband" in the nm-applet menu and unplug and replug my mobile doesn't work most of the times.
Hence, I need to restart Ubuntu (often I need to restart it several times before the connection is available).

I've tried to launch Ubuntu and THEN plug the mobile, but that doesn't give me the certainty to have a working connection.
Kill and relaunch nm-applet gives the same result.

It seems that sometimes the modem of my mobile is immediately well recognised, sometimes not. That means a lot of time wasting...

Thanks!

At https://live.gnome.org/NetworkManager/MobileBroadband I don't see the LG GT540 listed. Do you have reason to believe that your modem is supported by NM et al?

I don't know. But sometimes it works.
I'm just trying to find a way to connect always without problems.

Since yesterday, I have discovered something really interesting.
After 2 minutes that the mobile is plugged in, the voice "Enable Mobile Broadband" appears and I can surf the web.
Hence the question is:
why should I wait 2-3 minutes (not an eternity... but quite a long time) before the connection is fully recognised and available?

Thanks
