I don't think this upgrade path is still supported since alternate has been dropped in Quantal.

Which CDs did you use? We want to go and check all CDs to make sure this is *not* offered... since e.g. some CDs now have package pool for a different purpose.

16:25 <cjwatson> it's probably still on the server CD, probably mistakenly
16:26 <cjwatson> since apt isn't going to have a whole lot of luck upgrading the base system from the squashfs
16:28 <cjwatson> update-notifier distinguishes between "CD with packages", "CD with dist-upgrader", "CD with addons", "CD with aptoncd"
[note: aptoncd is actually commented out and I think addons is historical]
16:29 <cjwatson> I don't think we'll get the dist-upgrader one but it might well show up as having packages
16:29 <cjwatson> arguably correctly
16:29 <cjwatson> This is the difference between:
16:29 <cjwatson> A volume with software packages has been detected. Would you like to open it with the package manager?
16:29 <cjwatson> and:
16:30 <cjwatson> A distribution volume with software packages has been detected. Would you like to try to upgrade from it automatically?

This was with alternate, but when I checked for Beta 1, it was still offered in server images and failed.

I confirm that both the amd64 and i386 ubuntu-server images contain the cdromupgrade script and a 12.04 system is presented with the 'Would you like to try and upgrade from it automatically' message.
