If you are able to reproduce this crash, follow this procedure <http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash> and attach the file to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

Thanks for spending time to improve Kubuntu. Looking at gdb output, it doesn't seem exactly the same problem. Valgrind detects some memory leak. Please add specific information about your release and perform a full update of your system.

Thanks again. KDE 3.5.6 in Edgy is not well supported. If you have the chance, I advice to upgrade to Feisty (the release candidate could be released within few days). However, your report will be examined by developers.

I haven't encountered this problem in a long time ... seems that an update must have fixed it. It's probably safe to mark this as fixed.
