Bug Description

I used to have custom settings for:
* compact view
* show/hide avatars
* show/hide protocol

Now they are not honoured and there is no way to apply/set them.

same here : can only see 18 contacts on a 1200px high monitor since all their avatar are visible and view not compact...

if having these settings back in the UI is not an option, at least it would be nice to be able to set them in dconf...

RT José: I had set these UI options with dconf (org.gnome.Empathy.ui) in Ubuntu 12.04, and it used to work :
show-avatars = false
show-groups = true
compact-contact-list = true

Since my upgrade to 12.10, these config options are not respected by empathy

Yes, that's exactly what happens to me, what I would like is to have those options working again in 12.10. Or at least, know the reason why they have been removed...

testing on 14.04 and have the same issue, default avatar view takes too much space from the list and cannot set the view to compact.
