I got this crash almost as soon as I started checking out the new Unity Previews feature on my installed apps in the Dash.

this is folder for a cache, software-center suppose to create it, if missing.
anyway, you can work-around issue by
mkdir -p ~/.cache/software-center/apthistory.p
