Bug Description

After upgrading to Thunderbird 15 (with the new tabs style) on my Ubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop today, I noticed that if you hover over the inactive tabs and the default Ambiance theme is set, there is a distinct vertical border which appears between the center of the tabs and the corners, instead of a smooth and continuous look. The active tab and tabs which are not hovered over are not affected.

See attached screenshot for an example of how this looks.

Steps to reproduce:
1.) Open Thunderbird, and open multiple tabs (2 or more is fine). Make sure your current theme is Ambiance.
2.) Hover the mouse cursor over any tab other than the currently selected tab

My machine is running a fully up-to-date Ubuntu 12.04 LTS 64-bit, with thunderbird 15.0+build1-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 and the default Ambiance theme. AFAICT this does not occur with Radiance.

I found that this same issue also appears when using Salience, a third-party GTK theme. Maybe any GTK theme with dark toolbars would be sufficient for triggering this bug...?

Hi,

I'm actually in Warsaw this weekend with the person who worked on the new theme. I showed this to him, and he asked if it changes at all if you resize the window (ie, if you shrink the window until the tab size changes)?

Hello Chris,

I have tried changing the window size in Thunderbird to make the tab size change, but that doesn't happen. The issue still appears, however. See attached screenshot (with three tabs open).

Also worth noting is that I installed Ubuntu 12.10 from a daily build on my laptop (a different machine) a couple days ago, and I cannot reproduce this bug there. So, this looks specific to Precise to me.

Hello Christopher,
Thank you for submitting this bug and reporting a problem with Thunderbird.

You made this bug report in 2012 and there have been several versions of Ubuntu and Thunderbird since then.

Could you confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the ticket?
Or, if it is still a problem, could you run the following (only once):
apport-collect BUGNUMBER

and upload the updated logs and and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu and Thunderbird better.

G
