Bug Description

Running ubuntu 12.10 on Apple iMac 11,2.
Just upgraded (included kernel 3.5.0-13) and rebooted.
Ran 'top' in command window and watched compiz CPU level (seems lower now).
Quit 'top' with q. Tried to close command window with red X button.
No reaction and desktop froze - except for mouse pointer.
Gave it a minute and switched to tty1. Switched back to tty7 and after a few seconds the desktop returned.
A crash window came up... identifying compiz. I chose to restart compiz.
I have had several compiz-related crashes lately, most have been unreportable due to apport not completing its process.

One bug title, occuring just after this one I am reporting, was 'compiz crashed with SIGSEGV in TfpTexture::bindTexImage()'. The crash report for that seemed to hang at the web page stage, which is where I got this title.

Peter T Hayward, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases, Ubuntu 12.10 reached EOL on May 16, 2014.

Is this reproducible on a supported release?
