Bug Description

sudo apt-get update reports broken links from various repositories, for example:

W: Failed to fetch http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-security/universe/source/Sources 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.92.184 80]

I am in New Zealand. This has been the case for two weeks now, basically all apt-get updates are broken. Some idea of when this will be fixed would be nice.

Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1041976/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

I'm facing this issue in Finland, yet I don't know whether its the distro or network-related thing, DNS server or something. My own precise distros failed to update last night, and now at work this 10.04 updates without any problem.

This has malfunctioned again in NZ. A lot of 502 Proxy error messages from various repositories, mainly security.ubuntu.com.
Please can we get this fixed, this is causing major disruption.

Please can someone give an idea of how to get this fixed. Don't think it's just a NZ mirror problem - I've tried with au instead of nz in the URLs with the same result.
