Running on xubuntu 11.04 with custom build of the latest version.

The reason seems to be that the callback function is triggered every couple of minutes, resulting in this call-sequence:

xfce_xkb_save_config
xkb_config_update_settings
xkb_config_initialize_xkb_options

The last function recreates the g_hash_maps that hold the current window and application settings. So the current settings are lost.

I have the same exact problem. I don't really know how to describe it but it seems it's much more frequent when I'm switching between workspaces from a primary-layout-program to a secondary-layout-program. Hope you understand what I'm saying.
Will have some more time tomorrow to really test this.

NO! Definitely not a duplicate of #944468. #944468 is about the settings of the plugin, this one is about the keyboard layout setting that should be specific to every app/window. This window/app specific keyboard layout gets reset every now and then.
