Bug Description

The alsa-lib package uses a USB-Audio.conf which again uses the card_name function to enable dmix depending on the actual USB soundcard.

Now whenever using a USB soundcard device I get:

------------------------------->-8-----------------------------
ALSA lib dlmisc.c:108:(snd_dlsym_verify) unable to verify version for symbol snd_func_card_name
ALSA lib conf.c:3488:(_snd_config_evaluate) symbol snd_func_card_name is not defined inside (null)
ALSA lib confmisc.c:391:(snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings
ALSA lib conf.c:3500:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such device or address
ALSA lib confmisc.c:1070:(snd_func_refer) error evaluating name
ALSA lib conf.c:3500:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_refer returned error: No such device or address
ALSA lib confmisc.c:391:(snd_func_concat) error evaluating strings
ALSA lib conf.c:3500:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_concat returned error: No such device or address
ALSA lib confmisc.c:1070:(snd_func_refer) error evaluating name
ALSA lib conf.c:3500:(_snd_config_evaluate) function snd_func_refer returned error: No such device or address
ALSA lib conf.c:3968:(snd_config_expand) Evaluate error: No such device or address
------------------------------->-8-----------------------------

According to alsa upstream changelog this function was added between 1.0.14-rc2 and 1.0.14-rc3

Should I still test it even if you removed the patch for now?
(the file is not available at this place).

The config is working fine here, dmix'ing as it should with my card.
Softvol would be nice, though ;) Will try to add it.

Michael

In Feisty+1, alsa-lib 1.0.14 (or newer) will be used, which will obviate the hacks in the above USB-Audio.conf that I posted.

Closing this bug, as the original issue is now fixed in Feisty.
