Bug Description

Binary package hint: openvrml-lookat

System: Kubuntu 6.06 LTS i386

I installed openvrml-lookat with no broken dependencies from the main ubuntu repositories. When I try to run it I get the following message:

lookat: error while loading shared libraries: libmozjs.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I checked on packages.ubuntu.com that file "libmozjs.so" belongs to firefox and should be located at /usr/lib/firefox/libmozjs.so I checked whether I have the file at that place on my computer and it is there.

So, the bug is twofold: first lookat does not declare any dependencies on firefox. Second, firefox is installed on my computer, and still lookat fails to load the library (incorrect path, maybe?)

Are these symptoms still reproducible in 8.10 beta?

It is unreasonable to expect for a report to install a non-stable version only in order to confirm that a bug is still present. One cannot expect normal users to upgrade to beta versions, whenever someone inquires whether a bug is still present. This attitude amounts to excluding all non-developers from submitting bug reports.

Close this bug only if someone having installed the latest version actually checks that the bug is not present.

As this package has been deleted from Intrepid onwards, I'm setting this bug to "Won't fix". If you want a fix for it, please look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates for a procedure, but the chances of getting this fixed are low.
