Bug Description

Binary package hint: gaim-xmms-remote

the package "gaim-xmms-remote" does not work. The problem is that when you try to enable the plugin via tools->plugins, it reports to you that it cannot be enabled, as I am using gtk-gaim and the plugin requires gtk. Presumably, this is due to a change in the way GTK presents itself to the plugin, or a change to gaim.

Please let me know if you need any more info.

I can verify this problem. I tried also installing the 1.8 version of this package and got the same error about requiring gtk.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 beta?

No. Reason being that xmms is no longer supported by Ubuntu. (which is a bug in and of itself if you ask me).
