winetricks won't install much of the software listed

Since I upgraded to quantal from a clean install of precise, I have not been able to get programs I need to install in the Steam prefix when I use winetricks. I have tried and failed to install mono28, vcrun6, dotnet40, xna40, ie8, windowscodecs, or allcodecs (although several of the codecs install before it dies). These installed originally on precise, and I was able to play a game I can't play now (Terraria).
