update-manager does not cope gracefully with 'apt-get autoremove' being run from console in the background

Bug Description
update-manager crashed because I ran 'apt-get autoremove' from console while the window was open, then hit 'install' in the app. It didn't like that the system state had changed after it had calculated its lists, and did not deal with this gracefully.
