All or most words on the screen turn white or dark making things unreadable

Bug Description
Seemingly randomly, the text on my screen (in firefox or any other program) will turn the same color as its background. This renders the programs affected useless because they're unreadable. However, after a little while, the text will return to its proper color.
I am using Lubuntu 12.04.
